Genetics and Neuromuscular Diseases
Since the mid-1980s, science has made tremendous progress in understanding genetics, including the roles that genes play in certain diseases. Most of the neuromuscular disorders in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's program are genetic, and MDA's worldwide research program has discovered the genetic causes and inheritance patterns of dozens of these diseases. Building on these recent findings, MDA-supported investigators are exploring a world of potential treatments."Genetics and Neuromuscular Diseases" gives an up-to-date review of genetics information relating to neuromuscular diseases.
